UI/UX-design

What is UI-design and UX-design?

User Experience Design covers a wide range of methods, tools, and approaches used to accommodate the users of the digital product and the businesses behind it. There is a common misunderstanding that many people believe UX design is the same as UI design. It can also be challenging to navigate through the various terms and titles, and for good reason. The UX design umbrella covers the entire user experience, while UI design is a part of the user experience. Therefore, a UI designer is often only concerned with the visual aspect seen by the user on their digital device. The UI designer incorporates UX design methods and other design principles and graphical elements. The UX designer is responsible for the entire user journey, including areas outside of the visual aspect. This can include initial analyses and user journey mapping, as well as user testing and validation.

UX-design process

It is important to note that not only the needs of the users must be considered, but also the business objectives of the company. Therefore, it is advisable to clearly define the user requirements, technological feasibility, and business model in any project that involves a UX design process. Achieving a balance between these three factors increases the likelihood of a successful product outcome.

One of the initial steps in the UX design process will always be to gain an understanding of the product and the company, so that an analysis of the desired requirements and features can be developed. These can then be compared to the company's business model and the technologies that will be used. This is a practical example of a UX design process, but it provides a good illustration of the iteration that is needed to consider all factors.

User Interface design

The interface design is the visual representation presented to the user. A significant part of the User Interface will be what your customers associate with the product. It is therefore important to have a design that reflects how you want to present the product, in line with your brand. With a good interface design, the product will reflect the innovative product behind it in a way that is intuitive, user-friendly, and represents your values.

It is the responsibility of the UI designer to design the visual aspect of the product. Utilizing design principles, general web, and design conventions for digital devices, our UI designer can design user interfaces for all digital devices that support screens. The UI designer, along with the UX designer, has created a user journey that allows the user to achieve their goal with minimal hassle. With a understanding of technology, they work together with the client to find a vision that aligns with your business goals and mission.

User Experience design

With the aid of a UX designer, it is advantageous to analyze data-heavy systems with the aim of making them more user-friendly. The UX designer's analysis can then be passed on to the UI designer, who, with his/her creative tools and design principles, can design a system that presents data in an intuitive and tangible manner.

To ensure the optimal customer journey for your customers, a UX designer, also known as a User Experience designer, will analyze the current journey and develop a strategy for the needs of users to be able to achieve their goals. For example, it does not matter how many features and functions your application has, if the user does not get any value from the product, or if it is just too complicated. It is important to incorporate this step in a digital strategy, as it can be crucial for the product that the user understands how to use it.

A UX expert is an expert in this field and knows which surveys to conduct to truly understand your customers. In this way, you also start with the best starting point for a successful project.

How do we create value for you

Examples of areas a UX/UI Designer will investigate to design and optimize your customer or user journey.

  • User behavior - We all have some assumptions about how others work, but to be able to confirm or refute them, the UX designer needs to meet the user and observe a typical day.
  • If there are machines, software, or other digital devices that are not being used as intended, or that prevent an optimal flow in production, this may be due to a problem with usability.
  • An unintuitive user interface can leave the user frustrated. It will be up to the UX designer to investigate why this is the case, and then have the UI designer review and correct any pitfalls.
  • Overabundance of functionalities that are still not used.
  • And much more...
